Leren Spreken

Speaking skills are crucial for people who want to participate in society. Non-native speakers are judged in society primarily on their speaking. Not for nothing does speaking skills play an important role in the integration exam.

The recurring question in speaking education is: How can we approach speaking lessons in a better, more effective and structured way?

Leren spreken provides the impetus for a systematic organisation of speaking lessons. The first chapters discuss the requirements for speaking lessons, the skills needed in speaking and the level of the speaking task. Then the focus is on teaching practice: the practical organisation of the speaking lesson, giving feedback and practising in practical situations. These include, for example, practical situations that are required in the civic integration exam, such as taking out an insurance policy, registering a child for a playgroup or holding a work meeting.

Finally, this book contains a wide range of speaking exercises, speaking tasks and worksheets. These exercises and tasks indicate the purpose for which they are suitable. This allows each teacher to choose a form of work that suits the learners.

Target group

Leren spreken is intended for all teachers (in training) who work with non-native adults. The teaching methods it contains can also be used for students aged 12 and over.
