Research into the acquisition, learning and teaching of Dutch as a second language is being conducted at various institutions in the Netherlands and Flanders. One of the objectives of the Professional Association of NT2 Teachers is to make the results of this research accessible and to disseminate them among NT2 teachers. This happens, for instance, at conferences, study days and via the yearly Vakwerk collections. In this collection Classical Subject Work II the most valuable contributions from this Vakwerk series are brought together, so that NT2 teachers can have permanent access to and make use of them.
Together with the contents of Classical Professionalism I, a large number of articles are now available for NT2 teachers on many facets and target groups of NT2 education: from vocabulary to listening skills, from grammar to intercultural communication, from differentiation to feedback and from literacy to assessment. Teachers and prospective teachers can find in it all kinds of recent theoretical thinking on second language acquisition and second language didactics, but certainly also many new ideas, suggestions, tips and recommendations for everyday teaching practice. This publication thus helps the teacher to provide effective, motivating and goal-oriented NT2 teaching!
Classic Vakwerk II contains 14 articles. These are a selection of articles from Vakwerk 5-9 (2009-2014). In terms of topics, Classical Craftsmanship II has a lot of variety. The first two articles are general in nature (second language acquisition and second language didactics), followed by contributions on literacy and low literacy, pronunciation and speaking skills, writing skills, listening skills, grammar, vocabulary, culture and intercultural communication, and finally testing. This covers most aspects of NT2 education.
