Geregeld spreken is a classroom speaking method that can be used alongside any total method. Moreover, each lesson can be used separately at any time: as a teacher, you can therefore easily select the topics your students need.
More time for active speaking in class and still ingrain Dutch grammar in your (practically trained) students? In the speaking method Geregeld spreken, the basic rules of the Dutch language are explained and practised through targeted speaking exercises.
With this method, course participants learn step-by-step how to apply grammatical rules in everyday life. For this purpose, the authors developed a new model. Each lesson consists of four parts:
Step 1: Understanding
The teacher gives examples, rules and instruction; learners mimic. This is also where the 123 method is used, a system for explaining Dutch word order to learners without complex grammatical terms.
Step 2: Practice
Learners start working with talking boards and exercises, moving from guided to less guided tasks. Learners work continuously, mostly in pairs, reading to each other and saying after.
Step 3: Doing
Once the information is sufficiently understood and enough practice has been done, students are given more free exercises in which they have to start applying what they have learned. The lesson ends with a spontaneous speaking exercise.
Step 4: Repeat
Every lesson, a number of exercises are given as homework to repeat everything again at home and get the necessary mileage.
