With Dichter bij de taal, you playfully work on the language skills of your students through classical and modern poems as well as songs.
Words and grammatical structures from a new language are best learned and remembered by offering authentic and attractive contexts. In Dichter bij de taal, contemporary (musical) works such as Brabant and Als de liefde niet bestond become appealing sources of exercises in the field of speaking, writing, reading, listening, vocabulary, grammar and Dutch culture.
Dichter bij de taal consists of 20 lessons in which a song or poem is central to the teaching. Through various themes such as love, family, upbringing, sadness and comfort, this book literally brings the non-native speaker ‘dichter bij de taal’ (‘closer to the language’). The lessons are aimed at increasing language skills as well as inviting intercultural exchange.
Dichter bij de taal includes exercises at the levels A2 and B1, covering both listening, reading, speaking and writing skills, and vocabulary and grammar. In each lesson, a Dutch poem or song is central, into which a grammatical phenomenon or cultural theme is embedded. With the help of the exercises on the corresponding worksheets, you can work on your students’ language skills in a varied and refreshing way.
