Meeleeskring cards are talking boards, intended for use in meeleesk circles and language cafés under the guidance of volunteers. Meeleeskringen are for people who:

• have difficulty reading and/or writing (NT1)
• want to improve the Dutch language (NT2)
• enjoy listening to books, stories and/or poems.

While the reader reads the story, he or she shows the talking pictures to the group. Below each picture is the page on which the word appears. By showing a read-along circle card, the reader does not have to interrupt the story to explain the difficult word. In this way, the momentum of the story is maintained as much as possible.

Manual

The manual contains many extra exercises you can do with the cards. There are exercises that can be done before, during and/or after reading the book. Choose the exercises that best suit the level and experience of the participants. As a facilitator, you are free to think up your own extra exercises to go with the cards.

For which books?

Publisher Eenvoudig Communiceren and publisher De Stiep are specialists in publishing books in simple language. Stichting Lezen en Schrijven therefore chose a number of their books to develop the reading circle cards for them. In total, we made talking cards for 17 titles. Some books have more difficult words than others, so the number of cards varies per book. You can find the titles for which cards were developed in the webshop.
