What is the Staatsexamen NT2?

Would you like to work in the Netherlands, for example as a nurse, a carpenter, a lawyer or something completely different? Or would you like to take a training course to increase your chances of getting a job? Even if you come from another country, you can study here in the Netherlands and look for a job that matches what you did before, or what you would like to do. To do so, you must be able to prove that you have a sufficient command of the Dutch language. With the Diploma Staatsexamen NT2, you demonstrate that your Dutch is good enough to follow a course or look for a job.

Why take the Staatsexamen NT2?

There are many different reasons for wanting to do Staatsexamen NT2, for example:

To fulfil your civic integration obligation.
Because your diplomas from your home country are not valid in the Netherlands, and you would like to follow a Dutch education to be able to work at the same level again.
Because you are looking for a job and want to prove to future employers that your Dutch is sufficient.
Because you want to advance in the company where you currently work; the Diploma Staatsexamen NT2 can help you get a better position.
Because the Diploma Staatsexamen NT2 is required to be admitted to a specific course.

When you take the staatsexamen NT2, you choose between two levels: Programme I or Programme II

Two levels: Programme I and Programme II

In the Netherlands, you can get an education at different levels. There are also many different levels within the job market. The higher the level of an education or a job, the better you need to master the Dutch language. If you take the Staatsexamen NT2, you choose between two levels: Programme I or Programme II. Programme I (language level B1) tests whether your Dutch is sufficient for a course or a job at mbo level, and Programme II (language level B2) tests your language skills for a course or a job at hbo and university level.
