New Dutch citizens often experience a language barrier at work that leaves them at a linguistic disadvantage compared to their colleagues. This Taaltrainer provides the final tools needed to break down this barrier. Difficult grammatical items have been linked to exercises that draw from real-life situations and jargon from the administrative, medical, and technical sector. This edition contains a unique, separate pronunciation practice tool that can be found on our website.

Target group
The Taaltrainer is intended for second language students of intermediate and higher education who have completed a programme in Dutch as a second language (B1/B2) and who want to prepare for studying or working in the Netherlands or who require extra training after completing the Staatsexamen NT2 II in order to refine their Dutch. This book can also be used as reference work for a (job-oriented) study programme.
The Taaltrainer focusses on training essential study- or work-related skills that have often not received enough attention in regular NT2 methods. These skills include writing letters, making telephone calls, summarising, keeping minutes, applying for a job and conferring with colleagues. These and other skills are treated on a theme-by-theme basis over the course of twelve chapters. The answers to the exercises can be found in the back of the book. Thanks to its lists of adverbs, subordinate conjuctions, irregular verbs, and the register, Taaltrainer is both a convenient workbook and a useful reference work.
