Focus op taal

Focus op taal is a basic book for teachers of Dutch as a second language. The book links information about the Dutch language system to language learning and language didactics in a clear and practical way. Every NT2 teacher or language volunteer working with students from level 0 to level A2 can use it. Experienced teachers can also benefit from Focus on language - as a reference book, for example - as well as participants in NT2 teacher training courses. 

The authors have had long careers in university NT2 and NVT education. They are among the pioneers of teaching Dutch to non-native speakers and have numerous publications to their name, including renowned teaching courses in Dutch as a second language (Code Plus and IJsbreker Plus). Together, they conducted practical research in NT2 groups (Kijk op de Klas).

From the authors' lesson observations, the topics covered in this book presented themselves naturally. Teachers are given practical tools to give adequate feedback and answer students' language questions properly. Topics include vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar, feedback, role of the mother tongue, types of errors, dictionary use. The chapters have a fixed structure, making the book easy to read.
