The new Civic Integration Act came into effect on 1 January 2022. Read below about a number of important changes.

What is integration and who must integrate?

Wat is inburgeren en wie moeten er inburgeren? What is integration and who must integrate?

People who come from outside the European Union, Iceland, Croatia, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland and live in the Netherlands for an extended period are required by law to learn the Dutch language and to learn how Dutch society and the labour market work.
