FC Sprint2 is a completely different approach to teaching Dutch to non-native speakers. FC Sprint2 is a combination of a vision on learning processes and a database of learning materials, divided into sources.
The method is based on eleven propositions, such as: 'learning efficiency grows when learners take responsibility' or 'learning is doing things you cannot do'. The propositions are then translated into practical situations and assignments you give to students as a teacher.
Sprint2 teachers act as coaches. They set the bar just a little too high with their assignments. With each assignment, they give the resources that the student uses to learn a skill independently, and the student has to demonstrate what they have learned in a presentation.
In this book, Jan Deutekom, the creator of this approach, describes what exactly the Sprint2 method is, how it works and how you can implement it in your own teaching environment. The method is based on his own teaching experiences. The Friesland college, where the author teaches, has been using the Sprint2 method since 2005 and the results are spectacular! The learning rate increases by leaps and bounds: students who work according to the Sprint2 approach are close to the level of 'normal' students after eight weeks of language lessons.
All resources accompanying the method can be found on accompanying website.
