When you fall under the old Integration Act 2013
If you were obliged to integrate before January 1, 2022, you fall under the old Integration Act 2013. You are then responsible for your own civic integration. You decide how you integrate and which integration courses you take. The municipality can offer guidance in this process.
If you fall under the Civic Integration Act 2013, you also have to take exams. Which exams depend on the date you became liable to integrate.

After the civic integration exam, you can choose to pass the NT2 State Exam. This is not mandatory.

If you are an asylum status holder, the PVT is free for you. If you are not an asylum status holder, the PVT costs €150.
You can pay for the course and exam yourself or you can borrow money from DUO. Borrowing money is only possible for approved schools. You can find more information about borrowing from DUO at www.inburgeren.nl.
Orientation to the Dutch Labor Market (ONA).
The purpose of the Orientation to the Dutch Labor Market (ONA) exam is to give you insight into how you can find work in the Netherlands that suits you and how you can keep this work in the long term.
The full ONA program consists of two parts: a portfolio and 64 hours of course or a final interview with DUO. If you have little experience with the Dutch labor market, it can take a lot of time to familiarize yourself with it. So keep in mind that your complete ONA program may take a few months.
The Portfolio
The portfolio is a report of your exploration of the Dutch labor market. With 8 result cards and evidence documents you show who you are, what you can do and what opportunities you have on the Dutch labor market. You show that you have actively and seriously studied the subject and describe your desired profession.
ONA course
You can do an ONA course of at least 64 hours. You will receive theory, learn how to make your portfolio and do internships or volunteer work, for example.
If you do not do a course, you complete the ONA course with an oral exam at DUO.
